Beautiful Bingin, Bali

For an action packed getaway, a relaxing getaway or for one that has it all, look no further than beautiful Bingin, Bali. A recent weekend escape at Fraser Baye Villa in Bingin Beach provided awesome family accommodation and an action packed ‘Super Saturday’ featuring some of Bingin’s most exhilarating and relaxing activities.

Bingin Beach is part of Bali’s Bukit Peninsula, which also includes well known areas such as Uluwatu and Jimbaran.

Fraser Baye, Bingin Beach

We stayed at the gorgeous Fraser Baye Villa, by Bali Retreats. Other well known villas by Bali retreats include Mick’s Place and The Shack. The anticipation of arriving at new accommodation is always exciting. Not knowing what to expect, the layout, the pool, the staff, what will it be like? Fraser Baye did not disappoint.

From the moment we arrived in the secluded, quaint area we already felt relaxed. Entering the compound, which features two large separate villas, stunning central pool and bar/kitchen hut, we were greeted by the friendliest smiles you could imagine.

Villa Manager Wayan and his wife Made welcomed us with the obligatory drink on arrival and refresher towel. After a tour of the gorgeous modern villa, the kids hit the pool and we perched ourselves at the bar for a chat with the staff, some bubbles and freshly cooked spring rolls. We arrived late Friday afternoon so were happy to settle in for the night at the villa and enjoy a beautiful fresh local meal, prepared in front of us by the staff. Spring rolls were seriously the best we have ever had!

Family Friendly

The setup at Fraser Baye is perfect for one or two families. Both villas support two ground floor bedrooms (one with bunks), open dining/ living area and upstairs master bedroom overlooking the pool with offset balcony. As to be expected in Bali, each villa boasts a spectacular outside bathroom with stone feature bath.

There are so many spaces within the facility, it’s easy to find a nook to escape and read that book you’ve been meaning to get to, or communal areas for socialising and a few Bintangs. Kids at one end, adults at the other!

Super Saturday – Action Packed

Whilst we only had the weekend in beautiful Bingin, Bali, we definitely made the most of it with one action packed Super Saturday. The areas of Bingin Beach and Uluwatu have so much to offer to keep you busy if that’s what you’re looking for.

Bali Training Centre

I kicked off Saturday morning with a Kick Boxing session at the Bali Training Centre which is located about 100m from the Fraser Baye Villa. I pride myself on being quite fit and exercise regularly. Well, I can tell you this Kick Boxing session nearly killed me! LOL. But I did love it. One of the best workouts I’ve done in a long time. This slick facility is located in the back of The Cashew Tree, one of the Bukit’s best known cafes, and offers sessions for all levels as well as private lessons.

Not for the faint hearted, the session which went for over an hour was high intensity, filled with boxing and kick boxing rounds and finishing with HIIT session and abs. Phew!

Bima, Bingin Beach Dog

We were joined half way through the kick boxing session by Bingin’s most famous local, Bima the Bingin Beach Dog. With an Instagram following of almost 10,000, Bima spends most days viewing the waves and hanging at Bingin Beach, sometimes with a Bintang. Now accompanied by new mate, Snowy, the pair make an adorable and irresistible twosome.

TNT Surf School Bali

After a quick coffee-hit post workout, it was time to head to the beach. Bingin Beach is a 5 minute walk behind the Fraser Baye Villa. The walk is an adventure in itself. Walking through an open field you are greeted by the most incredible clifftop view of Bingin and surrounding beaches. The rolling waves of the Bukit are so spectacular the view in itself is breathtaking. We navigated the stairs to the beach and the boys took on the waves.

My husband Scot and son Spencer joined Teko from TNT Surf School for a session on the Bingin break. Teko who runs the school was a great help to the guys in brushing up on their surf skills and getting to know the local waves. Whether you have your own board, or need to rent, TNT Surf School is super fun for a great family adventure.

Acacia Spa

Bills, my daughter and I left the boys at the beach and decided to head to the spa for some pampering. Again only about 80m from the Fraser Bay Villa, is the Acacia Spa. A cluster of the cutest little huts accommodate spa treatments including massage, facials and mani/ pedi.

Whilst I’d only travelled 40 mins via the car to get to Bingin, I opted for the “Jet Lag” treatment. Consisting of 1 hour massage and 1 hour facial, my jet lag was well and truly cured after this!!! With the beautiful staff and gorgeous treatment so close to the accommodation, it’s essential to experience this if you ever stay at Fraser Baye or the surrounding areas.

Ulu Cliffhouse

The day didn’t end there! With an influx of super edgy beach clubs hitting the cliffs of the Bukit, including Omnia, The Edge and Ulu Cliffhouse, we decided to do sunset at one of the new locations. We chose the Ulu Cliffhouse, which is about 10 mins drive from Fraser Baye.

Spectacular to say the least, Ulu Cliffhouse sits high above the rolling waves with incredible coastline views. Whether it be for a poolside session or a sunset drink, Ulu Cliffhouse is definitely worth a look. With no cover charge or minimum spend, it’s possible to just arrive and experience the venue. We sat near the bar and took in the views, as well as the endless selfie sessions and photo shoots going on around us!

Kid Free Night

After such an epic day, Scot and I decided to leave the kids with the villa staff and have some time alone exploring night activities in the area.

We spent some more time chatting to the staff at the villa before we left. We felt extremely comfortable and safe leaving the children in their capable hands.

Wayan from the villa had arranged a scooter for us for the weekend so it was easier to hop around to local spots. We checked out Single Fin, the iconic Surf Bar in Ululwatu and also Outside Corner. Outside Corner is a cool café with a skate bowl, pool table and table tennis to keep everyone happy. They also have two in-house boutiques. I went missing for a little while. Oops.

A little time out together was the perfect end to Super Saturday.

Easy on a Sunday Morning

After such a big Saturday we woke to a massive thunder storm on Sunday morning. It was so nice to be enclosed in the beautiful netted king bed and listen to the rain come down. When we eventually rose the staff had prepared a yummy breakfast of eggs, pancakes and fresh fruit.

The living areas at Fraser Baye are so cosy. With the blinds pulled down and the comfy lounge, it was forced relaxation until the rain passed. I ducked out to Drifter Surf Shop for an awesome coffee and quick shop at their famous café and boutique in Bingin.
